EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. When trauma is unprocessed, memories continue to feel as intense as when they first happened.
EMDR helps the brain do what it naturally knows how to do – process difficult memories so they feel less intense and easier to live with. Using bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements, tapping, or tones, EMDR helps the brain form new connections so painful memories lose their emotional intensity over time.
Instead of feeling stuck in fear, shame, or sadness, memories begin to feel more distant and manageable. The goal isn’t to erase the memory, but to change how your brain stores it so it no longer drives present-day distress.
Many people experience this as feeling lighter, less burdened, and more emotionally free.
